A Nyeri court has summoned Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua over the death of former Nyeri governor Wahome Gakuru.
Gakuru’s family lawyer Mary Weru wants Kahiga to shed light on a statement in public after his former boss had passed on.
Kahiga reportedly told the gathering that he had warned Gakuru not to use the ill-fated car claiming it had a technical problem.
Weru further claimed at the time of the accident, Gakuru had ordered the audit of the county funds during the period under which the MP’s brother Nderitu Gachagua was the governor.

Principal Magistrate Weddy Kagendo also ordered county secretary Benjamin Gachichio and county chief of staff Paul Wambugu to appear in court to shed light on Gakuru’s fatal accident.
Four officers summoned
At the same time, Kagendo issued a warrant of arrest against four police officers who attended the accident scene where the late governor died in a car crash in Makenji area in 2017.
The court directed the officer commanding the Makuyu police division to arrest sergeants John Wanami and Martin Simiyu, corporal Francis Kisavi and police constable John Kivuva
The four officers did not turn up for a site visit at Makenji accident scene during the hearing of the case.
Prosecutor Kennedy Magoma applied for their arrest for disobeying a court order.

He was in the vehicle with two other occupants when the early morning accident occurred.
The governor was heading to Nairobi to attend a talk show accompanied by his personal assistant, his bodyguard and driver when the vehicle he was travelling in veered off the road and hit a rail guard.
