Early life

Alison Victoria Gramenos was born on 31 October 1981 (age 39 years) in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She grew up in Chicago, where she experienced most of her childhood alongside her two brothers and sister. Her father worked as an FBI Agent, Public Defender, and Federal Judge before his death in 2021.

While growing up, her father would take her on long car rides across the city of Chicago. The experience of seeing houses in Illinois made her dream of living in one of them. But it is also from there that her passion for rehabilitating homes began.

As a result, she went to the University of Nevada for her higher education. Alison Victoria from HGTV then became an interior designer and founded two companies that she runs even today.

In 2001, she launched her company called Alison Victoria Interiors. Initially, it began as a consulting firm in Chicago and Las Vegas. Throughout its existence, the company has had a mix of clients that range from private residences to resorts.

Ventured into TV

In 2011, Alison Victoria ventured into TV by hosting a reality show called Kitchen Crashers. In the series, she surprises homeowners at a home improvement store by transforming their kitchens. The TV series has been ongoing since 2011 and is now part of a franchise. The franchise includes House Crashers, Bath Crashers, Room Crashers, and Yard Crashers.

In 2019, Alison Victoria began hosting a new reality TV show called Windy City Rehab. As an interior designer, she uses the platform to buy and restore old homes in Chicago. Throughout a home’s rehab, she uses unique architectural features and updates the design with style.

In June 2020, Alison Victoria began hosting Flipping America. The reality TV series features Alison as she travels across America to demonstrate how flipping masters economise their renovations. She also advises buyers on places to get better deals in the USA when flipping homes.

In January 2021, Alison began hosting another reality TV show alongside Ty Pennington and other TV stars called Ty Breaker. It is a series that follows Pennington as he helps families to decide whether to overhaul their property or renovate a new one. In each episode, Alison entices different families to choose an alternative home they can renovate.

Windy City Rehab controversies

Windy City Rehab has had its share of lawsuits since it first aired. The most recent one involves Alison and co-host Donovan Eckhardt where each individual has sued the other. Donovan sued the production company for defamation. On her part, Alison sued Donovan against HGTV.

According to Alison, she has spent almost $700,000 of her money on projects that Donovan Eckhardt did not handle well. Eckhardt has had his property development and general contractor licenses suspended. Also, he has allegedly missed at least 20 inspections on past projects.

Even before the lawsuits began, the show and the hosts received several stop-work orders on some of their renovations. Since January 2020, there have been at least four lawsuits filed against the show and the hosts.
