Machakos county First Lady Lilian Mutua is arguably among the most gorgeous public figures in Kenya today. Her looks and dress code speak volumes.
She is seen in public places complementing her husband as he goes about his gubernatorial duties. As we speak, Mutua is rated as the most performing governor in Kenya among the 47.
His track record speaks for itself. But the old adage goes, behind every successful man there is a woman. And who wants to dispute it is not Lilian?
But very few people know about Lilian. She has never done an interview and when she finally did on Friday, May 13, on Citizen TV, she revealed information about herself, who she is, her early life and how she met Mutua.
Below are nine things you probably did not know about Lilian Ng’ang’a.
1. High school
She went to Togotho Girls’ High School in Kiambu county.

She studied front office, tourism and hospitality at the University of Nairobi.
3. She did modelling
After high school and during her college days, she was a model.
4. Her first job
She landed her first job at 19 years. And guess where? Safari Park Hotel. She worked here for one year before quitting. She worked at the front office.
5. Her second job
After quitting her job at Safari Park, she joined Kenya Airways where she worked for six years before quitting yet again.
6. After Kenya Airways
After leaving KQ, Lilian started her own businesses. She opened beauty parlours but they terribly flopped. This forced her to close them.
7. Tour company
She started her own tour company which she says she still owns to date. She attributes the success of the company to the fact that it is what she studied in college and loves the most.
8. When she met Mutua
Lilian says she met her husband, Governor Alfred Mutua, in March 2011 and they became close friends. Their friendship developed and the two fell in love and eventually married.
9. What Mutua did to win her
Lilian describes Mutua as a charming man who was very persistent when convincing her that he was the right man for her. She says Mutua managed to win her because he was persistent and determined to have her as his wife.
