Former Tanzanian president Mzee Jakaya Kikwete achieved a lot effortlessly with his soft demeanor and quality leadership but did not come easy.
The former president recently had a sit down with Tanzanian journalist Salama and disclosed some of the things most people do not know about him.
Kikwete may have been a scholar but his passion for books came later in life as he was quite a cheeky boy growing up.
Speaking with Salama on her YouTube show Salama Na, Kikwete disclosed he started school while he was very young of age.

According to the former president, he had to do it as he had no one to play with back at home as all of his sisters had joined school.
”I first went to school in around 1956 in Lushoto. But, you know had started school when I was very young and I could play a lot.” Kikwete said.
The former president said he was ”expelled” by the teacher on the first day due to his stubbornness.
”I was very cheeky, I would jump up and down and it was then when the teacher called me and told me that I should not come back again to school the next day. When the teacher told me that, I was happy, I was not really into school, was just going because my sisters had gone too. I really hated being confined in a class for the whole days,” he added.

Many people who view the video of YouTube lauded the ex president as they held school is not the only thing that can make people successful.
Kikwete was the fourth president of Tanzania having taken the seat from Mzee Benjamin Mkapa.
The former president has been the darling of many Tanzanians specifically celebrities who felt he was closer to them than most politicians in the country’s history.
