Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has expressed gratitude at having adopted Gift Osinya and his brother Satrine following the 2014 terror attack.
The incident left Satrine with a bullet lodged in his skull and claimed the life of their mother.
Recounting the terror incident at the Joy Jesus Repentance Church, Sonko revealed that their photos struck a chord in his heart.
He adopted them, and according to the flashy politician, the boys have been a blessing to his family.
“The heartbreaking picture of Gift Osinya carrying his injured younger brother, Baby Satrine Osinya, went viral, and I was deeply touched by the plight of the two little boys. I offered to adopt them, and since then, I have witnessed God’s miracles unfold right before my eyes,” Sonko wrote on social media.

The post was a celebration of Satrine completing his KCSE examinations, an achievement Sonko said he was proud of.
“Today was again a moment of great joy and a big milestone for us as a family when Master Gift Osinya completed his KCSE at the Lenana School. My son Gift, I am so proud of you and truly grateful to God for the blessing you have been in our lives,” he wrote.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to Kenyans who pray for his family.
TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that upon completing the exams, Gift put smiles on the faces of a few of his schoolmates by making donations to them.
He gave out some of his personal effects, including uniforms, textbooks and bedding, to a needy Form Three student at Lenana School, where he spent the last four years.

News about the donation was first made public by Sonko’s wife Primrose Mbuvi via Instagram.
”Done with High School, pongezi my son. Someone donated all his books, bedding, uniforms and box to needy Form 3 student. Good deeds family,” she wrote.
Gift joined the school after scoring 399 marks in the KCPE examinations.
