When starting up, the institution only had 46 students and offered curriculum from Kindergarten to 8th Grade only. Over the years, the school has grown, becoming one of the top international learning institutes in the country.
It attracts students from all over the world and offers learning opportunities for students from elementary school (early childhood and kindergarten) to secondary school (Grade 12). The school is accredited by both the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CES).
West Nairobi School academics & curriculum
West Nairobi School follows the North American school system, the same one used in the United States. Under this system, students learn from Kindergarten to Grade 12 (commonly referred to as K-12).
1. Elementary school
The institution offers a complete kindergarten curriculum that nurtures young minds and prepares them for further learning. It also has an early childhood centre for young kids of about 3 to four years. The centre prepares them for introduction into the K-12 system. The elementary school also comprises Grade 1 to 5, or what we commonly refer to as the primary school under the UK school system.

2. Secondary school
After Grade 5, students proceed on to secondary school. This level is divided into two: middle school (from Grade 6 to Grade 8) and high school (from Grade 9 to Grade 12). Usually, students graduate from Grade 12 at about 17 or 18 years.
3. Advanced placement program
Advanced Placement is a program offered under the North American curriculum, where students can take college-level courses and exams in high school. As a result, they get several benefits when pursuing a college education. These benefits include college credits, skipped introductory college classes, and a better profile for college admissions.
4. Languages & Learning support
West Nairobi School offers an English-based curriculum. However, being an international school, there are several students whose first language is not English. To help them adjust to the school and keep up with other students, the institution offers an English Language Learner program. The program is designed to improve the students’ English reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
