As soon as he made public his intention to exit the label, he was asked by Diamond to pay Tsh500 million (Sh. 23 million) to be allowed to terminate the contract with the label, but he declined to pay this amount.
The compensation amount would grant him access to full rights ownership to the songs he released under the WCB label. After months of push and pull with the label over his contract, he managed to end his two-year stint with Wasafi in August 2018 courtesy of the intervention by Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (BASATA).
